Umbraco to Sitecore Migration
The Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) is the go-to digital platform for railway procurement in the UK, connecting buyers with qualified suppliers. Chosen by Network Rail and other key industry buyers, it aims to streamline the supply chain while emphasising safety and compliance. Beyond serving as a marketplace, RISQS also offers tools and training to support the use of their platform that elevate industry standards, making it a multifaceted resource for the railway sector.
The Challenge
The Rail Safety and Standard Board (RSSB) wanted consistency with their technology stack and had to move their RISQS website from the Umbraco CMS to Sitecore 10.2. As a gateway portal for members, the goal was to re-platform the entire website under one unified platform of Sitecore.
The Approach
The new RISQS website was developed using Sitecore 10 with the Sitecore Experience Accelerator (SXA) framework, enabling rapid development and increased flexibility. Pre-built components from the RSSB site were refactored and integrated into the RISQS website to expedite delivery and ensure a smooth transition.
To maintain a unique look and feel, ClerksWell implemented RISQS design elements for a cohesive user experience. The team also enhanced various elements, relocating the breadcrumb navigation to the top of the page for improved user navigation.
The project was managed using an agile approach with sprint cycles, allowing for efficient stakeholder management. Scope control was maintained throughout the project to keep it within the allocated budget and timeline, resulting in successful completion within two months.
The Impact
The new website now offers users a seamless and improved experience, allowing access to vital information more efficiently. Having everything under the same tech stack lowers total cost of ownership, streamlines internal content creation and decreases internal maintenance and management. The project allowed for ClerksWell to support RSSB's whole technical estate, and strengthened our relationship with the client.
