The Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) is the go-to digital platform for railway procurement in the UK, connecting buyers with qualified suppliers. Chosen by Network Rail and other key industry Buyers, it aims to streamline the supply chain while emphasising safety and compliance. Beyond serving as a marketplace, RISQS also offers tools and training to support the use of their platform that elevate industry standards, making it a multifaceted resource for the railway sector.

The Challenge

The Rail Safety and Standard Board (RSSB) wanted consistency with their technology stack and had to move the RISQS websites from the Umbraco CMS to Sitecore 10.2. The RISQS website is crucial in displaying vital information concerning railway industry suppliers. As a gateway to the portal for members, the goal was to re-platform the entire website under one unified platform of Sitecore.

The Solution

The new RISQS website was developed using Sitecore 10 with the Sitecore Experience Accelerator (SXA) framework, enabling rapid development and increased flexibility. Pre-built components from the RSSB site were refactored and integrated into the RISQS website to expedite delivery and ensure a smooth transition.

To maintain a unique look and feel, ClerksWell implemented RISQS design elements for a cohesive user experience. The team also enhanced various elements, relocating the breadcrumb navigation to the top of the page for improved user navigation. Additionally, they implemented out-of-the-box Sitecore forms and SXA-based search functionality to surface RISQS only content.

The project was managed using an agile approach with sprint cycles, allowing for efficient stakeholder management. User feedback from sprint reviews was carefully considered and incorporated into subsequent development cycles. Daily huddles with the client fostered clear communication and transparency, keeping everyone aligned with project progress and objectives.

ClerksWell assigned a dedicated and skilled QA team to rigorously test the website during development, ensuring high-quality delivery. This thorough QA phase ensured that the development speed did not compromise quality. Scope control was maintained throughout the project to keep it within the allocated budget and timeline, resulting in successful completion within two months.

The Results

The new website now offers users a seamless and improved experience, allowing and access vital information more efficiently. ClerksWell demonstrated ingenuity in swiftly delivering the project while providing a high-quality solution that met the client's requirements within the designated budget. Moreover, the project strengthened ClerksWell’s relationship with RSSB, showcasing their ability to deliver quality solutions and further solidifying their partnership with the client.
